On July 25, according to reports, two men suspected of kidnapping and using a chainsaw, firearms, and electric batons to torture a Bitcoin trader in an attempt to force him to hand over his Private Key have been granted bail.

A Manhattan judge agreed on Wednesday to release John Woeltz and William Duplessie on bail of $1 million each. The two face a total of 12 charges and have both pleaded not guilty. The court also required them to wear electronic monitoring devices and surrender their passports.

Woeltz and Duplessie have been detained since May of this year. Prosecutors accuse the two of luring an unidentified Italian crypto trader to Woeltz's townhouse in SoHo, where they illegally confined him for two weeks and subjected him to various forms of torture. This included violence with a gun, a stun baton, and a chainsaw, and even setting him on fire after dousing him with tequila.

Can you bail out with just 1 million USD? That's ridiculous.
