The police seized Bitcoin with a big pump of 1.3 million USD surplus used to combat crime.
[Bitpush] According to reports, the Lancashire police in the UK seized Bitcoin converted by criminals in 2017, and due to the surge in Bitcoin prices, they gained a surplus of 1.3 million dollars after liquidation. Under UK law, victims can only be compensated for the original amount, and the police allocated 665,000 dollars (500,000 pounds) to the crime-fighting fund, used for purchasing drones, anti-fraud equipment, and more. The remaining amount is submitted to the government. The police stated that this move allows for full compensation to the victims, while the additional funds will be used for crime prevention. The criminals involved have been sentenced.
